“I started my career in the unknown having graduated with a dance degree I then went into customer service and worked my way up to purchasing manager at an engineering company. With direct reports, I added more structure to the purchasing function and added value and strategy. I then left to the dark side having thought of doing recruitment for some time. I was approached by the director of Alexander Lloyd for an open conversation about what it’s really like in the world of recruitment and If I had the goods to deliver. Which I do. I spoke about my experience as a procurement manager and spoke about my determination to make a name for myself in the recruitment world. I made it clear I’d want to be in the procurement division of Alexander Lloyd and they accommodated this very nicely.
I was expecting both the bad and the good of recruitment and I can honestly say I’ve had more of the good! The training is extensive and unlike training, I’ve had at any organisation. They take their time and really make sure you understand not only the process but their business. They train differently because they recruit differently from other agencies. I feel like they have set me up to be the best I can be as a graduate recruitment consultant. The procurement team is well known in the South and London and we deal with some great clients who both trust our process and regularly contact us for any needs. The incentives and culture in the office is great! I do not dread coming to work. There is always something to get involved with and most recently various colleagues have volunteered to become part of a force of change in the business. Speaking with colleagues and finding out what really makes them tick…or not. They really are doing their best to make this the best recruitment agency to work with and work for.”
