Finance Assistant

Alexander Lloyd are currently recruiting for a Temporary Finance Assistant (immediate start preferred) on behalf of a respected and well-established organisation based in Crawley. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) to join a collaborative and controls-focused team.

The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in the office, and runs until the final quarter of the year, paying up to £33k temporary equivalent.

You’ll be supporting the Finance Team across a wide variety of daily, monthly, and ad hoc finance tasks. This is a hands-on role that demands strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and a proactive mindset

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily bank reconciliations, investigating unknown transactions
• Manage payments via HSBC and monitor mailboxes for payment activity
• Oversee the Finance mailbox and respond to queries
• Prepare and input monthly journals
• Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and transactional accounting for assigned entities
• Report on balance sheet movements
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Improve internal controls and help enhance transactional processes
• Contribute to finance policies to reduce risk and boost efficiency
• Respond to ad hoc requests from Finance and other teams
• Uphold company compliance, risk management, and regulatory standards

Skills & Experience (Essential):

• Experience in a controls-led finance role
• Good understanding of general and sub-ledger systems and accounting principles
• Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• High level of numeracy, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
• Organised and proactive in managing responsibilities
• Strong team-player mentality
• Actively studying AAT (or equivalent)
