About the role

As a Pensions Associate Consultant, you will join a multi-disciplinary team and take responsibility for managing or supporting a portfolio of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as day-to-day contact for trustee and corporate clients
  • Managing governance frameworks and ensuring schemes remain compliant
  • Leading or supporting major projects (e.g., GMP equalisation, ORAs)
  • Preparing high-quality advice, reports and communications
  • Overseeing scheme business plans, budgets and governance documentation
  • Working collaboratively with actuarial, investment and administration specialists
  • Contributing to tender activity, pitches and wider business development
  • Building professional networks and identifying opportunities for service enhancements

This role would suit an existing Consultant or a DB pensions professional ready to transition into a more advisory, client-facing role.

Skill & experience required:

Essential experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within DB pensions (consulting or administration)
  • Strong technical understanding of pensions legislation, governance and regulatory requirements
  • Evidence of client management or supporting senior consultants across client portfolios
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new systems quickly

Desirable:

  • Progress toward APMI/FPMI (or equivalent)
  • Experience in pitches, networking or new business activity
  • Knowledge of the PPF assessment process
