Alexander Lloyd is delighted to be exclusively partnering with an engineering company, on the recruitment of an HR Business Partner.
This is a high-impact, senior HR role operating at the heart of a fast-paced, unionised environment. Reporting to the Head of People, the HR Business Partner will work closely with the leadership team, acting as a trusted advisor on all people matters, with a strong emphasis on employee relations and industrial relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic and operational HR partner to the leadership team, providing expert advice across employee relations, industrial relations, employment law and policy application.
- Lead and manage complex ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters, ensuring consistency, fairness and legal compliance.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with trade unions, supporting consultation and negotiation on pay, terms and conditions, and procedural matters.
- Support organisational change activity, including restructures, TUPE transfers and redundancy programmes, ensuring legislative compliance and best practice.
- Work closely with the Head of People to deliver an effective HR partnering service across Employee Relations, Resourcing, Reward and Learning & Development.
- Contribute to workforce planning, resourcing strategies, succession planning, talent development and recruitment of key operational and leadership roles.
- Support Employment Tribunal case preparation and represent the business where appropriate.
- Coach and support managers to address performance issues confidently and fairly, promoting a high-performance, engaged workforce.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor within a complex, unionised environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and best practice employee relations frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience handling complex ER cases end-to-end.
- Experience of working with trade unions, including consultation and negotiation.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Resilient, pragmatic and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, operational setting.
- CIPD Level 5 or above (or equivalent experience) preferred.
