Senior Category Manager – Technology

Alexander Lloyd are partnering with a leading UK financial services organisation who are seeking a Senior IT Category Manager to shape and deliver technology procurement across software, cloud and IT services. This is a strategic, business‑facing role where you’ll influence decisions, strengthen commercial outcomes and ensure regulatory compliance in a rapidly evolving environment.

The role:

You will partner with Technology, Risk, Legal and business stakeholders to manage sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier onboarding. You’ll provide deep commercial insight, challenge value for money, and support effective third‑party risk management.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and lead category strategies across Technology to drive innovation and cost optimisation.
• Manage full lifecycle sourcing: market engagement, tendering, negotiation, contracting and handover.
• Work closely with Third‑Party Risk and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory alignment.
• Use data and market insight to support decision‑making and commercial outcomes.
• Support supplier performance management within a decentralised governance model.
• Champion best‑practice procurement and help elevate the procurement function’s profile.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong experience in Technology procurement (software, cloud, IT professional services).
• Experience in Financial Services is essential.
• PRA regulatory knowledge and understanding of third‑party risk expectations is essential.
• Strong stakeholder influence and negotiation capability.
• Excellent analytical, communication and commercial skills.
• Ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder procurement projects.
