This is an incredibly rare chance to join a major UK employer in a true in‑house Pensions role, leading projects and shaping member engagement across a large, diverse pension landscape.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to step into an in‑house Group Pensions function, where you will lead a portfolio of Pensions related projects, support strategic change initiatives, and drive high‑quality member and stakeholder engagement across multiple pension arrangements.
The role blends project management, communications, governance, and stakeholder leadership, offering broad exposure to senior decision‑makers and the chance to influence long‑term pensions strategy from within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver Pensions projects including scheme changes, benefit redesign, provider transitions, regulatory change and governance improvements.
Translate strategic objectives into operational delivery, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance member experience.
Develop project plans, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure delivery against agreed milestones and budgets.
Work closely with HR, Reward, Finance, Legal, Payroll and external advisers (actuaries, administrators, lawyers, consultants).
Oversee systems and process optimisation, supporting enhancements to the Pensions administration platform.
Prepare high‑quality papers for senior management, committees and trustees.
Design and deliver member engagement strategies and clear, compliant communications.
Support consultations, engagement exercises and employer liaison across the group.
Contribute to training, onboarding and development of operational pensions staff.
What Makes This Role Stand Out
In‑house Pensions project roles are exceptionally rare. This position also offers:
Direct influence over the organisation’s Pensions strategy.
Close collaboration with senior leaders and trustees.
The ability to shape member communications and engagement from within.
A stable, long‑term environment compared to consultancy project cycles.
Exposure to a wide range of schemes, stakeholders and strategic initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience delivering complex Pensions projects.
Excellent understanding of UK Pensions legislation (DB and/or DC).
Confident communicator able to explain complex Pensions topics clearly.
Skilled in stakeholder management, governance, risk and process improvement.
Highly organised, proactive and comfortable balancing multiple priorities.
