Practice Accountant

Experienced Practice Accountant

Crawley Area | Part-Time (3 or 4 Days per Week) | Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice supporting a diverse portfolio of SME clients across a range of industries.

This is a varied, client-facing role suited to someone who enjoys managing their own portfolio, building strong client relationships and supporting businesses with their accounting, tax and compliance requirements. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with solid technical knowledge and previous experience within an accountancy practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Managing a portfolio of SME clients and acting as their day-to-day point of contact
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, including clients operating within the CIS scheme
• Preparing corporation tax returns and assisting with tax planning opportunities
• Preparing self-assessment tax returns for directors and individuals
• Producing management accounts and providing financial insights to clients
• Reviewing client bookkeeping records and advising on improvements where required
• Supporting clients with Xero, QuickBooks and cloud accounting solutions
• Liaising with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients
• Ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements
• Assisting Partners and senior team members with ad hoc advisory projects

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, qualified, or qualified by experience
• Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses
• Good understanding of VAT, corporation tax and self-assessment
• CIS experience desirable
• Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks and/or Sage
• Ability to manage multiple client assignments and deadlines
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
