Principal Pensions Administrator

Are you an experienced pensions professional looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, a highly respected and award-winning pensions consultancy, is seeking a Principal Pensions Administrator to join their growing pensions administration team.

Working within a collaborative and client-focused environment, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding pension administration services across Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC) and CARE pension schemes while supporting the development of colleagues and driving operational excellence.

The Opportunity

As a Principal Pensions Administrator, you will act as a technical specialist and senior member of the administration team, overseeing complex cases, supporting workflow management and ensuring exceptional service delivery to both clients and scheme members.

Working closely with the Team Leader, you’ll help manage team performance, mentor colleagues, maintain high-quality standards and contribute to the overall commercial success of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day team workflows and workload allocation.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex and non-standard pension administration queries.
  • Deliver a high-quality service to clients and members in line with agreed service levels.
  • Support quality checking and review processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Mentor, coach and develop junior team members.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader when required.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and performance development activities.
  • Prepare and present service updates to clients, trustees and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor chargeability, time recording, invoicing and commercial performance.

About You

We’re keen to speak with pensions professionals who have:

  • Strong UK pensions administration experience across DB, DC and/or CARE schemes.
  • Previous experience managing workloads, processes or team activities.
  • Excellent technical pensions knowledge and understanding of current legislation.
  • A client-focused approach with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including HMRC, GDPR and The Pensions Regulator.
