Your role will include taking responsibility for your portfolio of large Public Sector Pension schemes; focussing on the preparation and delivery of actuarial advice to clients, as well as coaching and managing the internal account team and building relationships with key decision makers to develop each of your client accounts. You will also take a lead role in the development and delivery of internal growth strategies relating to your portfolio, and will be required to mentor junior members of the team and department on a regular basis.
Experience-wise, you will need to either currently or have previously worked in an actuarial role within the UK Pension industry - either covering public or private sector clients - and be able to demonstrate a technically-focussed proficiency when it comes to these schemes' day-to-day operations and governance. You should be a Fellow of the Faculty or Institute of Actuaries and will need to have experience of joined up investment and actuarial advice and valuations and be able to review all elements of actuarial valuations, as well as having experience of financial reporting under accounting standards FRS102 and IAS19 (including providing advice on assumptions and liaising with auditors). Experience of bulk transfers, including the negotiation of transfer terms, would also be advantageous.
