The Company

Alexander Lloyd Executive Search are delighted to be retained by a privately-owned, entrepreneurial FMCG organisation with the appointment of a CCO (Chief Commercial Officer)

The organisation is based on the border of Surrey and South West London border and has a unique and highly successful range of niche healthcare brands. Alongside both regional and international offices, they also have a UK manufacturing site, and the business is on an exciting fast track towards their ambitious growth plans. This appointment will play a pivotal role with the strategic & commercial objectives which will involve both organic growth and potential acquisition alongside the CEO.

The Role

Reporting directly into the CEO, the Chief Commercial Officer will be accountable for the commercial performance of the business. You will have 5 direct reports; all within a General Manager capacity, who will take responsibility for the UK and international areas. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with the general managers to assist them in growing their businesses, allocating their resources effectively and challenging them with regards to both top and bottom-line delivery. The incumbent will be closely involved in developing short and long-term plans for these areas as well as monitoring delivery and performance.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing strategic relationships with global customers. The Chief Commercial Officer will set the commercial strategy for the group and bring greater levels of forward-looking thinking to global customer engagement you will oversee sales functional capability and the development of joint business planning and shopper marketing. This will entail leading, coordinating and negotiating global agreements with customers and designing and implementing the global pricing and terms & conditions strategy.

The Candidate

The role demands an individual who combines a demonstrable track record of having led and managed a P&L coupled with a proven background of managing customers on a pan-regional / global basis therefore international experience and P&L management are essential.

The ideal candidate will have worked extensively in environments that have a variety of routes to market, such as mass retail, pharmacy and third-party distributors. Experience will ideally have been gained in the consumer products arena, and exposure to the beauty, personal care or consumer healthcare / OTC markets is of particular interest.

Due to the senior nature of the role it is likely the candidate will be currently operating at CCO level or similar (Managing Director of a region, General Manager with extensive international exposure across various zones looking for a step up, Sales Director with the above experience etc.)
